What will become of K-pop in the future? (2023 - ???)
In my recent blogs, I have talked about the 4 generations of K-pop and how it has evolved over the years, with its music, style, dance and how one generation creates a new path for the next. All I know is that K-pop won't stop at any time as it has now become such a worldwide sensation!
Over the current years, K-pop artists have been invited to perform their new release songs in the West to promote their albums and let the younger generation know of this type of music. Some artists even had the chance to be invited to well-known shows and events to perform at, such as The Jimmy Fallon Show, Coachella and the American Music Awards.
Twice performing Set Me Free at The Jimmy Fallon Show on March 10th 2023.
Blackpink performing Shutdown at Coachella on May 27th 2023
BTS performing Butter at the American Music Awards on November 23rd 2021
For 31 years K-pop evolved from being known in South Korea to now the most well-known pop music in the whole world. If it were not for the artists I have mentioned in the earlier generations, (Seo Taiji & Boys, Big Bang, PSY, and BTS etc) K-pop would not stand where it is today, if it were not for them and their outside-the-box thinking. K-pop will forever grow in the music industry creating new groups each year more generations down the line. Thus building the fanbase of K-pop every year.
"How has K-pop become viral each year?" You may be asking. With new K-pop songs going viral and groups gaining many reputations, some already popular artists in the West would want to collaborate with them, making two fanbases in different music styles come together and supporting both artists.
PSY X Snoop Dogg - Hangover (June 9th 2014)
BTS X Nicki Minaj - IDOL (September 15th 2018)
Lady Gaga X Blackpink - Sour Candy (May 28th 2020)
With the collaborations shown above with other famous artists, I can say that K-pop will not be going anywhere anytime soon, with their viral dances, unique style of music and fashion sense it is just the beginning for K-pop. And with new upcoming generations, they are going make it bigger than ever with their talent and the 4th generation now makes a bigger path for them to walk on. From 1990 to 2023 these 4 generations have built a solid foundation of K-pop, what it stands for and how it differs from different music from all around the world. K-pop has brought many fans and artists together over the years and social media makes collaborating much more easier.

Can't wait to listen to new music from new kpop groups

ReplyDeleteIts honestly so cool how kpop expands into other culture and parts of the world! Seeing the asian community being able to collaborate with western artists it’s really cool!
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that K-pop has expanded so much over the years and has built such a following! Especially now that western artists are recognising their talent and want to collaborate with them!
